Hi you! Tina told you a while ago here about the history of electric mobility at Porsche. And last week she explained what a hybrid is. Today I’m continuing with the topic of electromobility. Let’s see what you already know about electric cars!

You probably know that an electric car doesn’t fill up with petrol or diesel, but runs on electricity. To do this, it is simply recharged at some kind of socket. So every electric car has a battery as well as an electric motor. And it works like the battery in a mobile phone, only much bigger.

An electric car is environmentally friendly because it does not emit any toxic exhaust gases. To protect the environment, it is also important that the electricity for charging is obtained in an environmentally friendly way, as from renewable sources such as sun, wind and water. Solar cells on the roof of a house, for example, generate electricity from sunlight. Great, isn’t it?

The first all-electric Porsche is the Taycan. It has been available since 2019. As a Turismo with a larger luggage compartment, it is also suitable for families. And soon there will also be the Porsche Macan as an electric car. I think that’s great! Fast and environmentally friendly – perfect! I’m sure there will be more electric Porsche soon.

How did you like our excursion into electromobility at Porsche? I hope you learned some interesting new things. It remains exciting. See you soon!

Yours, Tom
