Having fun trough the day

Hi you! As you know, Porsche is active in tennis and golf as well as motorsports. But Porsche continues to expand its sports sponsorship and this now also includes kitesurfing and big wave surfing. Do you know these cool sports? Read on to find out more.

In kitesurfing, the athlete stands on a surfboard. In his hand he holds a so-called kite – a sail. It looks like a big flying dragon. The wind pushes the kite into the air and pulls the athlete along with it. This allows him to surf over the water and jump with the help of the wind and waves.

In surfing, the athlete also stands on a surfboard. However, he does not have a sail. In big wave surfing, you surf on particularly big waves. This is often very dangerous. That’s why only really good surfers do it. Beginners start on small waves and practise that way.

Porsche athlete Sebastian Steudtner has set a world record in big wave surfing. In kitesurfing, Porsche is a sponsor of the ‘Red Bull King of the Air’ competition. This takes place every year in South Africa. Here, the two Porsche athletes Liam Whaley and Rita Arnaus compete for Porsche.

Maybe you’ll see a surfer when you’re by the sea. Keep your eyes open! Next week Tom will tell you a bit about lightweight construction at Porsche. See you then!

Yours, Tina

Did you know?
Sebastian Steudtner’s surfboard is being developed together with Porsche Engineering. The surfboard is even being tested in a wind tunnel – just like a Porsche sports car!
