Hello Porsche designers! On 20th August, we celebrate the 20th birthday of the Porsche Cayenne. In my blog post today, you can read some exciting stories and interesting facts about this model. Curious already? Then read on quickly!

The Porsche Cayenne is the third model series at Porsche and the first off-road car. Before that, only the two sports cars 911 and Boxter were produced. Of course, the Cayenne is also a real sports car! At the time, this type of car, also called an SUV, is particularly popular in America.

The Cayenne is developed for four years until it goes into production in 2002. It is the first five-seater with plenty of space for luggage and families. A new factory was even built for it – the Porsche site in Leipzig, Germany. Today, the Macan and the Panamera are still built there.

And the Porsche Cayenne is really successful! On the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring in Germany, the Cayenne Turbo GT sets a lap record for SUVs. And the model is also very popular with customers. The millionth Cayenne is produced in 2020. That’s a 1 with 6 zeros: 1,000,000!
