23rd July 2021 l For Porsche fans l 2-3 minutes

Hi! Over the next few weeks, Tom and I will introduce you to the various Porsche locations. Today we’ll start with Weissach. I’ll tell you what Porsche does there, why a lot of it is top secret and how you can still take a look behind the doors of Weissach!

The Porsche Development Centre is located in Weissach, not far from Stuttgart in Germany. This is where all new Porsche sports cars have been planned, developed and tested for 50 years. Around 6,700 employees are involved in the development of a new model. That takes about four years – as long as the time between two Olympic Games!

Of course, a Development Centre like this needs a lot of space. Developers, designers and technicians work on site, but there is also a big cool test track. The work there is top secret: no one is supposed to know what models and new ideas are being developed until a new Porsche hits the road or racetrack.

Sounds exciting, right? I have a great tip for you how to get even more insights: The Porsche Museum is hosting a summer holiday programme from 3rd to 22nd August. There you can find out what it’s like to be a developer yourself and experience lots of cool playing stations! The special exhibition on ’50 Years of Porsche Development Weissach’ is on until December 2021.

Yours, Tina

Did you know?
There is room for several football pitches in the area of the Development Centre. To find out how many exactly, count the strokes in the picture above!
