Hello racing driver! You know the Porsche 911. Its design is the model for all other Porsche models. Tina has written more about this here. Today we’re going to take a look at a very special 911 together: The Porsche 911 Dakar. Sounds exciting, doesn’t it?

This Porsche reminds us of Porsche’s first overall victory in the Dakar Rally in 1984. This race lasted several days and the cars drove almost 11,000 kilometres. The route was mostly over desert ground. So this race was a very special challenge for driver and vehicle.

The Porsche 911 Dakar only exists 2,500 times. That’s why it’s a real, much requested collector’s item! Its rear spoiler and greater ground clearance are special. The body of the car has more distance to the ground than other sports cars. This allows the Porsche 911 Dakar to drive better over uneven surfaces.

In addition, there is a special rally design package. This means that you can see at first glance that this is a 911 Dakar. The car is painted with typical rally stripes, just like the winning car from 1984, and the buyer can have his own start number painted on the side. Turbostrong, isn’t it?

There are almost no limits for the Porsche 911. I think that’s great! Hopefully I’ll be able to take it for a drive shortly. See you soon!

Yours, Tom

The big overall victory in the Dakar Rally also marks the birth of 4-wheel drive in the Porsche 911. It means that the engine powers all four wheels.
